PRESERVING AND SAFEGUARDING CULTURAL HERITAGE, ABU DHABI GOVERNMENT

UreCulture has worked with various Abu Dhabi Governmental entities since 2018 on long-term cultural and research projects relating to the preservation, safeguarding and public engagement of the global cultural heritage of falconry. UreCulture has worked on museum concept development and planning; exhibition planning; cultural strategy development and partnerships; project management; project audit; digital archive management; expert advice relating to preservation of cultural heritage through digital technology; and public engagement.

 

Middle East Falconry Archive (MEFA), Abu Dhabi 

 

MEFA is a digital archive and public engagement platform to safeguard and share the historical documentary heritage of Arab falconry, including conducting and disseminating its related research. The MEFA website and digital archive of manuscripts can be accessed here.

 

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Museum of International Falconry, Brussels, Belgium (opening 2023)

 

Announced in Abu Dhabi in 2021, this new museum will invite visitors to discover an ancestral practice that captivates and unites falconry communities around the globe. The museum explores the history, practice and conservation of falconry, internationally and in the United Arab Emirates. This museum is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and organised by the Mohamed bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund in collaboration with the International Association of Falconry.

 

Sheikh Zayed Heritage Wing, Archive of Falconry, USA 

 

In 2021 the Mohamed bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund commissioned an update of the exhibition at the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Wing at the Archives of Falconry, USA. The exhibition titled One world, one spirit, one heritage: Falconry and the Arabian Peninsula, introduces visitors to the legacy that the Arabian Peninsula has given the tradition of falconry as well as the United Arab Emirates current falconry conservation and heritage initiatives.
