Expo 2020 Dubai was the first world expo to be held in the Middle East. Eleven leading artists created artworks for public spaces across the site of Expo 2020 Dubai (held from 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022) which are now permanent landmarks of Dubai’s new District 2020.  This public art programme was curated by Tarek Abou El Fetouh and the artists included Hamra Abbas, Afra Al Dhaheri, Shaikha Al Mazrou, Monira Al Qadiri, Abdullah Al Saadi, Asma Belhamar, Olafur Eliasson, Nadia Kaabi-Linke, Khalil Rabah, Yinka Shonibare CBE (RA) and Haegue Yang.

UreCulture  worked with Tarek Abou El Fetouh and Expo 2020 Dubai to develop the public art commissions framework; advise on specialist practice and policy relating to public art; prepare and negotiate all of the contractual agreements with the artists, working closely with the Expo Legal Department; as well as working on the overall budget and project planning.
